Your mother use to write me and upon her passing I thought the correspondence would stop but your father dropped a line to say keep writing and I'll write back and we both did. I will really miss him as he and your mother were very special. I have fond memories of the family and the shore that I often think about and of course those great steaks he cooked on the grill. May the the great memories and times spent with your parents fill your loss when you think back of moments in life. I was glade I to have known them. I just found out today about Mr. Pickett's passing. I'm so sorry to have missed the funeral. Your entire family is in our thoughts and prayers. I enjoyed seeing him at Maris Stella every Saturday night mass in the summer and our conversations when I stopped by to say hi. We will miss him. I apologize for not sending a mass card but I do not have any of your addresses.

My great uncle Bill came down from chestnut hill to Avalon for the weekend and said if I get up early I could go fishing/ crabbing with him and(Nono) Olinto. I was about 8 or 9 at the time, I over slept. I was so upset I ran out of the house with fishing pole in hand all the way up to 57th street pier. I could see them in the far distance laughing and having fun. I frantically yelled

I was so frustrated and crying, At that same moment I felt an arm around my shoulders hugging me. Dad knew I needed to be up earlier and must have seen me run out of the house. He not only hugged my tears away but gave me great insight on how old buddy's work.
The lesson l learned from this experience was to listen to what I was told and respect old friendships. Bill and Olinto (Lin) were brothers-in-law and needed their brother time alone. That fact that I was invited at all shows me the love they had fore me all along.

I will always remember our Sunday mornings going to WaWa for breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Also watching all your favorite TV shows and recalling your days of flying with the Hurricane Hunters. Thank you for your service and rest in peace! Conrad
