Tribute & Message From The Family

Lamont Ralph Tibbitts

Son of Ralph Lamont Tibbitts and Helen Brown Tibbitts, born 7/3/1939 in Hutchinson, KS. Surrounded by his wife and family, Monty passed away 12/14/2018, Cape May County, NJ after a brave battle with brain cancer.

Monty spent his childhood in Kansas. Following his marriage to Shellie England in 1967, they moved to Pennsylvania and he became life long entrepreneur. He enjoyed creating businesses and working with people. Twenty years were spent in real estate development and property management. He then moved on to supermarket services providing vending machines, video games, and video rental departments to supermarkets and convenience stores on the East Coast. Not content with retirement after moving to Stone Harbor, NJ, Monty's zest for life and love of business prompted him to form All Seasons Awnings.

Monty was also a golfer, boater, pilot and could often be seen on the links at Stone Harbor Golf Club. He was a patriot and proud of his country, its flag and its veterans.
His positive outlook and sense of humor awarded him many friends. Monty had a passion for the poor and served on the Middle Township Mayor's Commission for Affordable Housing. He also volunteered in rescuing furniture and household items and distributing them to those in need.

Monty is survived by his wife, Shellie, Son, Paul Lamont Tibbitts (Lynn), Ocean View, NJ, five grandchildren Kenny Carfagno (Teresa), Quakertown, PA, Amanda Burchell (Brandon) Ocean View, Jenna Tibbitts, Ocean View, Marissa Harris (Josiah) of Ocean City, Joshua Paul Lamont and two great grandchildren, Avery Grace Burchell and Noah Harris, five step grandchildren, Kenny, Christianna, Kolby, Kye, and Kasey.

Monty's sister and brother-in-law, Jody and Jimmy Vickers reside in Palm Desert, CA. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Linda Connolly of Cape May, NJ and Dana England, Kansas City, KS; brother-in-law Jeff England (Lonnie), Kansas City, KS. Nephews, Michael Connolly (Nancy), Linwood, NJ, Robert Connolly (Evonne), Washington, D.C., Scott England, Kansas City, Chris England (Annie) Kansas City and Blake England, Denver, CO, four great nieces, Caroline Connolly, Olivia Connolly, Shayne Connolly, and Maeve Connolly.

Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 am. Condolence & Memory Journal

We are so sorry to hear this sad news. We always looked forward to visiting with Monty and Shellie at high school
reunions. He was always so friendly, one year Maynard
even played golf with him at the old Newton Country Club.
(those were the days.) Monty and Shellie were such a good
couple. Monty will be sorely missed by a lot of people that
became his friends.

Sorry to read of the loss of Monty. I met him this year when he came out to my home to measure for my awning. He was genuine and we hit it off immediately. I know that he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

We were so saddened by Monty's passing. What a great guy he was. Always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. People like him are rare in this day and age. We have been friends with Monty and Shellie since the mid 60's and have enjoyed their friendship immensely. We want Shellie and her family to know that our thoughts and prayers are with them at this sad time.

I met Monty through mutual friends while in committee for the Eagles Fly for Leukemia golf tournament. He was one of nicest man I had met. He was first and foremost a gentleman, but there was always a twinkle in his eyes, a great sense of humor and mischievousness but always a willingness to help others. I always looked forward to when I would see Monty and Shellie in social gatherings. Shellie you were so blessed to pick a keeper when you married Monty. Love, hugs and prayers to you Shellie and your entire family.

Our thoughts are with Shellie, Paul and family. Can't single out one especially great memory from a whole bunch! Monty was a great guy and a wonderful boss and businessman. This time every year I think about Shellie and Monty when I put out on front yard the beautiful handpainted Santa Claus they gave me 25 years ago....even works in Florida!

ONly knew Monty for a couple of years yet shared meals, parties, and good times together. A fine gentleman that loved life. I'll miss him and his wonderful smile.

Many years ago my daughter was brutishly attacked and in critical care, Monty could not come to the hospital fast enough with a huge rag doll filling his arms and a huge heart offering his love. At the time, I was a Mother supporting three children on my own, and my daughter needed much follow up. Monty, without hesitation, offered his home and help. A place in my heart remains. And my daughter, who has also passed, with all her love, welcomed Monty to a peaceful place.
Prayers, Blessing and Love

Monty Tibbitts was bigger than life, with a kind heart and good soul. He was a great entrepreneur who could sell you anything he believed in. We met and immediately became best of friends with Monty & Shellie shortly after moving to the Glen Hardie Apartments in Wayne, Pa. in 1969. They were newly transplanted from Kansas, and we from Connecticut. We shared many fondue or pot-luck dinners and wine. We'll never hear Neil Diamond's Cracklin' Rosie or Sweet Caroline without remembering breaking out into dance together or, motorcycle trips on the weekend, or the boys doing hill-climbing on their bikes, while Shellie & I did yoga. Too many joyous memories to list....but we sustained our friendship with vacations at the Cape after we'd all9 moved back to CT and they to PA. We will miss him forever, and send our sincerely sympathy and love to Shellie for this overwhelming loss, but will smile with happy hearts whenever we think of Monty.
With Love, Linda & Bob and Scott & Lisa

When I first met Monty you could tell he was a wonderful person, my memory of him was tap dancing in Zada's room and the smile he brought to every one especially Zada.

What a good and dynamic man. Many years ago Shellie and Monty were visiting us in California. Going to dinner at an an extremely busy restaurant in Orange Hills with no reservation. The man from the east coast showed me that a smile, kind word and a sizable tip shortened our wait from an hour to immediately being seated at the best table with a window view. Always enjoyed his company, conversation, generosity and class....he will be missed.
