ADDIS, DOROTHEA (DOTTIE), nee Welch, 90, of Cape May Court House, NJ, received a blessing from God who called her to join him. She peacefully closed her eyes with rosaries in hand to meet her maker on March 5, 2017 in Valier, MT. She was born in Camden, New Jersey, graduating from Camden High School and West Jersey Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She married the love of her life Charles Addis in 1947. Together they built their house in the country in Almonesson, NJ, watching their children Charles and Dorothea (Marci) grow along with Deptford Township. She was always the neighborhood nurse. They retired to Cape May Court House where they enjoyed their summer retirement with many hobbies of woodworking, tole painting, sewing, boating, fishing, and being close to the ocean. She was very involved with Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church and the rosary. She belonged to the "Saintly Sweepers" and enjoyed helping wherever she could especially the peach festival. Her beloved husband and best friend Chuck passed away after 66 years of marriage from a lengthy illness. She is preceded in death by beloved grandparents Charity and Brad Vanderslice, parents Walter and Mildred Welch, sister Elizabeth and Herb Speed, and sister in law Gertrude Martino. She is survived by son Charles (Janet) Addis; daughter Marci (Norman) Lepow; grandchildren Michelle McKinley, Frank (Heather) Buck, Lori Addis, and Mark (Tiffany) Addis; nephews Ken and David Martino, Herb (Linda) Speed, and Ron Speed; and six great grandchildren.
Memorial Mass will be said on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 35 East Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House. Burial of cremated remains will be in the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, Cape May Court House.
