Dr. H. Sezer Köknar passed away on March 4, 2018. He remains a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, doctor, friend, and armchair philosopher. He was a respected surgeon in Cape May Court House for over 30 years where he was known for his passionate and compassionate care of his patients. He was a strong and, at times, vocal advocate for what he believed to be right. Called "Baba" by his children and "Ba" by the successive generations (and either title by many close friends), he loved to joke and converse with family and friends around the dinner table.

Sezer was born in Izmir, Turkey on March 22, 1933 and served in the Turkish military as an interpreter before coming to the U.S. for his medical residency in 1958. In 1959 he met his future wife, Jeannine Ewing, in Cincinnati, OH and they married in 1960. In 1968 Sezer and Jeannine moved to Cape May Court House with their four children. Together they created a loving and welcoming home.

Sezer was predeceased by his adored wife and best friend Jeannine. He is survived by his four children Suzan (Ahmet), Kemal, Semra (Scott), Kevin (Brenda), five grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and eight step-great-grandchildren. Baba was a generous, kind, and devoted family man of great integrity and decency. He will be forever missed.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Baba's life will take place on Saturday, April 7, 2018 with visitation from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. and a memorial service from 2:45 to 3:00 p.m. at Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Volunteers In Medicine at in tribute to his memory.
