Kevin Macfarlane 52 of Avalon, NJ - passed away on Wednesday October 3, 2018 of an overdose. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Kevin moved to the United States in 1967 with his parents and brother, Gerald. Kevin attended St. Joe's Elementary School in Sea Isle City and Middle Twp. High School where he excelled in soccer. Kevin continued his love of soccer at Belmont Abbey College in Charlotte NC, where he achieved All American status and was a member of the Senior Bowl All Star game his senior year. Kevin went on to have a professional career in soccer where he spent time playing in Scotland, and for four different professional teams in the NPSL. After his professional career, Kevin continued in soccer as a coach at Venice Beach High School in Florida and then returned home to work in his family business. Kevin loved to be with his friends and family, he enjoyed sharing his passion as a coach and trainer for kids. Kevin loved to sit and chat about his beloved Padre Pio and all of the saints. He is preceded in death by his mother Anna and survived by his father Gerry, brothers Jerry Jr., Patrick and Michael, sister in law Merle, and nieces Alicia and Lauren, nephew Brendan.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at St. Brendan The Navigator Parish, Maris Stella Church, 5012 Dune Drive, Avalon, NJ 08202. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kevin's name to Friend In Need, PO Box 5, Avalon, NJ 08202.
