Patricia Schipani

On June 22, Patricia Schipani peacefully passed from this life into eternal life. Born in West Philadelphia on May 25, 1930, Pat attended Harrington Elementary and West Philadelphia High School. Pat worked at Lit Brothers in Center City Philadelphia and met Louis Schipani on a blind date. They married in 1949 and moved to Yeadon, PA where they raised four girls. A devoted wife and loving mother, Pat was actively involved in St. Louis Parish. She served as a girl scout leader and in the Catholic Youth Organization. She organized countless parties, socials and parish trips. Pat was also engaged civically in local politics and as a board member of the Yeadon Swim club. Pat was an avid reader, card player, Phillies fan and loved to shop. Skilled at sewing, crocheting and knitting, her families and friends were constantly gifted with her handiwork. Constantly cooking and baking, Pat loved preparing special meals for family and friends. Homemade pasta, pizzellas and cream puffs were a few of her specialties. Pat was a vital part of the family business, Atlas Recycling, working as bookkeeper and receptionist. After the girls were grown up, Pat and Lou moved to a lovely home in West Deptford. Pat's homes always reflected her eye for design, her skill at homemaking and classic taste for fine things.

Patricia and her family spent summers in their cherished Avalon home where Pat and Lou lived full time after retirement. There, Pat became actively involved in politics, the civic club, was a hospital volunteer and often hosted a bridge club. Many winters were spent in Marathon, Florida where Pat also became civically engaged and became a hospital volunteer. In Marathon, Pat was often the host of dinner parties and fish fries at their Condo association in Sea Watch, Marathon.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Louis and her four daughters: Nancy Wiedemer of Philadelphia, and her husband, Kirk; Maryanne Harrington of Ocean View and her husband, Allan; Sr. Kathleen Schipani, IHM of Philadelphia; and Patricia Shannon of Lester, PA and her husband, Jim. Pat is survived by her grandchildren: Christopher, Benjamin, Matthew and Rachel; and her great grandchildren: William, Caroline, Branna and Dalia. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Freedman. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Rebecca.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 35 East Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House, where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to Camilla Hall Nursing Home, 1145 King Road, Box 100, Immaculata, PA 19345.
