MURPHY, RUTH E., - 105, of Stone Harbor, NJ, entered her eternal life peacefully on February 23, 2018. Ruth was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania on March 24, 1912 to James A. and Theresa McNamara. Ruth travelled extensively with her family during her childhood and adolescence. Ruth attended schools and lived in El Paso, Miami, and Washington among others, eventually returning home to Norristown and the Philadelphia area. She graduated Seton High School, MD and Pierce School of Business, Philadelphia. She married Joseph R. Murphy on April 10th 1940. Mr. Murphy was employed for many years as a Senior Representative of Joseph Hoover and Sons, Philadelphia Lithographer / Publisher. Mrs. Murphy was employed by The Keystone Automobile Club, Ravenhill Academy, School of the Holy Child, and finally St. Joseph's University, as Administrative Assistant to the chair of the Chemistry Department for 17 years, retiring in 1982. Ruth was a student of the Piano and fond of Tennis and Baseball. Ruth spent many years as a "Quilter" at The Wetlands Institute, and resided in Williamstown, Stone Harbor, NJ and Jupiter, Florida. She attended and was a Choir member at St. Mary's Church, Williamstown, and St. Paul's Church in Stone Harbor NJ, and the Angelus Chorus, Cape May, NJ.
Ruth is survived by two Children: Joseph R. Murphy, Jr. of Ocala, FL and Marianne T. (Murphy) Baumann of Jupiter, FL, Six Grandchildren, Thirteen Great Grandchildren and One Great Great Grandchild; and a Cousin, Nancy McCabe.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 5, 2018 at St. Brendan the Navigator Parish, St. Paul's Church, 9910 Third Avenue, Stone Harbor, NJ 08247. Viewing will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Norristown, PA. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Catholic Charities, USA, PO Box 17066, Baltimore, MD 21297-1066.
