Love Emblem

Jakobsen, Tom, 82 of Cape May, NJ, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018, very peacefully at North Cape Care Center. Born in Norway and raised by his father Trygve Jakobsen and his stepmother Alice Jakobsen, Mr. Jakobsen served in the Norwegian Air Force and the Norwegian Merchant Marines before immigrating to the United States. He lived in Brooklyn, NY before residing in Cape May, worked as a Merchant Sailor, Commercial Fisherman and for the last 40 years he worked at the Lobster House.

Tom enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, building model ships, telling jokes, playing the lottery, and loved a good game of poker. His model ships are displayed throughout the Lobster House. He especially loved traveling through New England.

Tom is survived by his daughters, Karen (Kurt) Schoen and Kathy Quigley, step-children, Regina (Michael) Maher, Fran (Karin) Callahan, Joseph (Wendy) Callahan, Stephen Callahan, and Ann Callahan (Jim McKeaney). He had 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Tom is preceded by Elizabeth Callahan life time companion, Elizabeth Hall, Sgt. Meggan Lee Callahan and his siblings, Ingrid, Sonja, Tor, Einor and Osa.

Memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where visitation will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will be private.
