McMAHON, JOSEPH HARMON, 78, of Cape May Court House, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Born in Collingswood to the late Arthur F. and Lida (Rogers) McMahon, he resided in Deptford Township until he retired to Stone Harbor in 1991 and moved in Cape May Court House six years ago. After graduating from Collingswood High School, he joined the Army during the Korean War. He was a sharpshooter and was being trained as a sniper when the war ended. He was an active member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, serving as trustee and the handyman that fixed anything that needed it. He was employed by PSE&G in Audubon.
Mr. McMahon's life revolved around his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandson. He enjoyed fishing and loved his pets. He was a wonderful gardener and his roses were admired by the neighborhood.
Mr. McMahon is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan (nee Sage); his children, Judy (Joe) Simpkins, Terri (Ron) Brown, and Joseph Steven McMahon; his brothers, Dave McMahon and John McMahon; his three grandchildren, Cody Simpkins, Sage Simpkins, and Ronnie Brown; and his great grandson, Damon Simpkins.
